a list.

whoa there, 2010.

this year, for me:

i spent new years in oklahoma city with my best friends and the flaming lips.

i went to the cayman islands and costa rica, which doubles the countries i’ve travelled to not counting the us.

i graduated college.

i travelled to 25 states.

zivi and i combined took about 30,000 photos. i know it’s not quantity that counts… but…

i went backpacking for the first time ever.

i met so so so so many amazing people, and found my second family at the archer ballroom.

i started playing music again.

experienced more uneasiness than ever before, which has only made me stronger.

i started taking a step back from my photography and trying to look at the big picture of what it means to me. i know it’s important to me that i pursue it, but it’s essential to look at it and ask why, and what about it.

i’ve broken out of so many comfort zones.

i’ve always dreamed of living lots of places in my life. this year i’ve spent more than two months in boston, texas, colorado and chicago.

for 2011?

i hope to stay happy and healthy, remember to be curious and nurture my creative potential.

i dream to get financially compensated for my photography more.

and my resolution is to connect with more people, and learn spanish.

there’s an ‘iron feather’ sculpture at the entrance to the oklahoma city airport. i noticed it the other day when flying out of the city and it kind of struck me.
i like the symbolism of the arrows, both for me personally and what they mean for oklahoma. for me, the okc airport is a marker of being ‘home’ for me, since when i go home, i’m usually flying, so the arrows are kind of a sort of guidance symbol.
i did some research on the iron feathers and their significance to okc, mostly having to do with native americans. you can look it up for yourself if you’re interested, but i like them, so i made this graphic.
